Postcard sized Art for the Twitter Art Exhibit
The Twitter Art Exhibit is a great initiative, open to all artists worldwide. All you need is to have a twitter account, artists are sending postcard sized original works of arts and proceeds go to Art Division, a nonprofit program supporting underserved young adults (18-25) in L.A.’s Rampart District, in preparation for careers in the visual arts. See all details here: http://twitterartexhibit.org/
For this small work I wanted to try something different, I wanted to have both some pencil drawing and watercolor paint, but I wanted the drawing to as much a part of the painting as the paint.

The paper I did draw on is a bit fin, so I glue it on a thicker watercolor paper using gel medium and a brayer.

I then paint with watercolors on top of the gel medium once it dried. It is very similar to painting on yupo paper as you can take off any excess paint with a tissue paper.

You are very talented. I must try that for myself.
read the article with the poppies, what was the outcome as it dried? I love the way it looked.
Thanks Dawn, it is still looking good:)
I am not sure about long term archival properties because of the acids in the oil paint but will write to the yupo paper corporation, inquiring about that.
thanks, please keep me posted on your findings.
