This interior scene has been painted by layering acrylics and pastels, here are the steps I took:

Because acrylic is somewhat transparent, the layers I am painting now will be somewhat visible underneath the final layer of local color, they will also show along the edges.

Then I am painting the final layers with colors that are closer to what I have on my reference picture.

Adding more local and realistic colors

I am adding some white acrylic diluted in water that will make textures on the surface

Adding some touches of bright colors with acrylics (using brushes and fingers ) and contouring with oil pastels.
