New project about the daily life of women, artists and mothers

I am quite excited about this new Instagram channel I launched and would welcome ideas of subjects I could illustrate if you would like to contribute.

The project is called Kilos of feathers and is an illustrated thoughts journal with a feminist perspective, published on Instagram.⠀
⠀⠀
I want to give a snapshot of the current situation, an honest perspective on the everyday life of a middle-class woman in a developed country facing mainstream challenges. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I am comparing some of the thoughts on this channel to feathers. Far more important issues are happening all over the world every day. What I want to show is that the weight of so many little issues start to add up significantly over the years, over a woman’s life, as being part of an environment that you experience very differently as being a woman than as a man.⠀⠀
⠀⠀

Like many other women, I don’t think feminism as an opposition between women’s and men’s right. The stereotypical binary gender division is becoming obsolete anyway, and we are all connected as mothers, wives or daughters of men. I just think everyone would benefit from a less prejudiced culture. The first step towards that is to start noticing gender-based differences in attitudes, opportunities and expectations.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Each published post includes a drawing and a short text revolving around themes like everyday life, motherhood, sexuality, gender equality, historical perspective… Basically it is a collection of thoughts triggered by my life as a woman, artist, immigrant, mother and daughter and what I can observe in my environment. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The text for each picture is succinct as it is intended as a springboard for discussion or more research. ⠀⠀
All the drawings are made with simple materials: markers and colored pencils as I wanted to use every day accessible media to parallel the ordinary aspect of the text.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
New posts on Mondays and Fridays⠀. Here are the first posts that have been published on Instagram

You can follow Kilos of Feathers on Instagram and share ideas of subjects you think I should talk about in the comments.
