Painting flowers from imagination for the Anonymous Art Show, a step by step painting tutorial

To participate in our North Vancouver Anonymous Art show this year, I decided on painting flowers from imagination in acrylic and mixed media.

Appreciation of Art is subjective and for sure, knowing who did a painting will influence how we look at that painting, especially if it is a famous name.

That is why I find the idea of the Anonymous Art Show so exciting, for the time of an exhibit it puts all Artists on an equal footing in terms of name recognition and price, and all that is left to appreciate a painting is the painting itself.

To learn more about this annual fundraising event held by the North Vancouver Community Arts council, you can look at their website.

This year, I did paint 4 canvas, although you can submit only three, just because I had them ready in the studio and decided that I would choose which ones to bring once I was done.

What is the nib you are using in the photos and with what paint?
Are all the inks waterproof as when I have painted over with white, they have mixed with it.
    Love your work.
    Thanks

    1. Thanks Helen 🙂
The nib I am using is a speed ball number 512, you can read more about it here: https://paintingdemos.com/drawing-patterns-with-a-dipping-pen-and-ink/
Yes I am using acrylic inks that are waterproof. If you are using non waterproof media, you can spray your painting with Krylon workable fixative.

I have felt very blocked when beginning a watercolor class, although I have painted in watercolor, oil and acrylics quite comfortably in the past. Then I found you Sandrine and it took no time at all to realize what I was searching for! All the fun n and enthusiasm is returning. I love your creativity – thank you.

    1. Thanks Eddi, I am happy to hear that as I am all about the fun of painting 🙂
