It is very satisfying to transform ads with perfectly beautiful women and give them a whimsical look. Even as a kid, I enjoyed very much messing with pictures on the TV guide.

Media you can use

You can use :

• Acrylic paint
• Markers
• Oil pastels
• Fluid acrylic
• Colored pencils

Most libraries will have magazines that have been withdrawn from the collection available at a very low price.

Start by blocking the background

To remove distractions, I usually start by painting a layer of white acrylic paint over the backgound.

You can also block the clothes and accessories with acrylic paint

Add details, change the make up, hair and clothes

This is the fun part, I like to use fine markers for the make up, markers or colored pencils for the round cheeks.

Here I am using a marker with a brush for the hair, clothes and accessories.

If you are missing an element you can collage it

Here I wanted like a pool cap with yellow roses on the head, so I just printed a picture of yellow roses and collaged them on the page.

If you don’t like something, paint over it and restart

You can change your mind, paint over a part of the image and start again like I did here with the hair.

Finally, work on the background

I love patterns, so here I added them with either a fine line marker or oil pastels
